I looked up the 1939 Jewish population archives from the American Jewish Committee archives for the Muslim countries listed below and their combined Jewish population was 1,098,745 out of a total world Jewish population of 15,914,384 = 6.9%. But the Jews in Palestine were the Ashkenazi and the Jews of Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey were the descendants of the Jews who came from Spain and Portugal. Therefore, the percentage of Jews of Middle Eastern origin drops down to 1.6% of total the world Jewish population.
