Winston Churchill appeared to argue (notwithstanding the messiness associated with ‘the maturation of the mainstream US moral psyche’) – that she served (could be trusted) as a valuable ally, over the longer term.
With hindsight? Would he continue to advocate so?
Or was his advocacy simply ‘the advocacy of the drowning man: reaching for any form of life-extending purchase?’
