Netanyahu has been indiscriminately bombing every last standing structure in northern Gaza since January. As usual, civil emergency teams have been bombed too as they tried to rescue any survivors, and even attempts to recover the dead have been targeted with deadly fire. As expected, far too many Palestinians of northern Gaza are now simply “missing”. And not surprisingly, Hamas is now reporting that most Israeli captives that were being held in northern Gaza are also now missing. Anyone could have predicted this result from the beginning, when it fast became apparent that what Netanyahu wanted was not to rescue captives but to obliterate Gaza–its people, its life, the land itself. Israel must rid itself of the religious war mindset where it believes that it and only it has the right to exist, and everyone and everything else in its way must be exterminated. It must learn how to seek and build real peace. Otherwise, real peace will never come.
