Re: Gallant responds to ICJ: ‘Israel does not need lecture on morality’

“You know there is a fine line between genius and insanity. You seem to be very close to the latter.”

You are the one enamoured with conflict not me. Psychopaths take pleasure in conflict. I don’t say this to imply you are necessarily a psychopath (don’t know you) but if you enjoy making others suffer you might be suffering from some psychopathic or sociopathic issues (which can be treated clinically assuming the patient wants treatment.)

It’s true my ideal is pacifism but its not how most see pacifism. I don’t define pacifism as non-use of force. The use of force is unavoidable in some circumstances. What is at least theoretically possible though (somewhere down the road with a sufficiently advanced technology) , is the elimination of the use of lethal force. That is the the world we should strive for. Not just just for hippie kumbaya reasons but because all life of this planet depends on it. Sooner of later if we keep threatening each other with weapons we will destroy ourselves in a nuclear holocaust.

In the here and now I myself am part of problem. If someone attacked Greece, I would support killing them and flattening their country. If someone threated Greece with nukes I would support Greeks acquiring nukes in response. It’s a game theory problem. Each competitor would be better off collaborating but it requires we all collaborate rather than just look only at our naked self-interest. If a player doesn’t participate, it falls apart.

I see the only way out of this dilemma of raising military stakes is technology that is advanced enough that can act as a caretaker of humanity. One option might be have an AI babysitter for us so we can focus on living rather than death..
