Most Arab Countries want nothing to do with Hamas or their methods. The United Nations does not recognize Hamas. UN chief said that although nothing could justify the “appalling” attacks by Hamas of 7 October which triggered the siege and bombardment of Gaza, it was important to recognize they “did not happen in a vacuum” and did not justify the collective punishment.
Of course it did not happen in a vacuum as it has been Hamas’ ambition to destroy Israel for decades because they do not recognize Israel’s right to exist. But the UN does not explain how Israel can defend herself when Hamas terrorists are hiding in buildings with human shields, along with hospitals, mosques, schools, media and municipal structures to hide military assets and military intelligence? Just for balance, I want the UN to speak out about these war crimes in an aggressive manner, because that is the main cause of civilian deaths.
