As in many wars, not only combatants, but also non combatants are collaterally injured and killed. But wars are also times of great internal purges, where various sorts of killings take place:
– regime killing of dissidents
– regime killing of informants
– regime killing of folks refusing to join the war effort
– regime friendly-fire killing due to malfunctioning ordnance, rockets, weaponry, etc.
– inter-clan and intra-clan killing
– killing by criminals
– killing within families
– taking ones own life
– collateral kills by the enemy
– probably many more as well
