Hamas and other jihadi holy-war militias need to generate conflict and war, in order to maintain their funding. If they cease to trigger death and destruction, then they have little to no value. So take with a grain of salt any suggestions that these jihadi groups want peace. They need perpetual conflict to survive, and of course bodies to offer up as cannon fodder.
