A few days ago the Vatican raised grave moral questions about Israel. Now the pope just condemns it. Israel has lost its moral, cultural, and political cachet with the world. And it’s all due to its own doing. All it has left in its repertoire is bullying, threats, intimidation, bribery, and the immoral use of disproportionate force. It can only preach to the choir, and to other moral monsters like the US and German governments. And thanks to its shameless hasbara, no one can believe a word it says nor trust it when it speaks: it’s like putting lipstick on a pig. Sad and wretched things, that country and its backers.
