The Value of Life, aka the Value of Death, varies considerably across the globe. It seems to be in proportion to the cost of living and even more so; to the accumulated wealth of a person.
In example, we see more and more sub-contracting of combatants, which costs much less per person, than paying Western soldier salaries. It is not only the salaries, but the cost of processing the deaths of the combatants. The death of a Euro or US soldier runs into the millions of dollars. Instead, the deaths of other out-sourced soldiers and/or mercenaries, varies greatly, but nearly always much less than Western deaths. The lowest values lie with the a sub Saharan death which costs a few hundred bucks to resolve, if even that much.
