Personally, I dislike it when politicians moan about extraneous matters, or criticize the previous administration, or just get in a slanging match with the opposition. It’s just a case of getting the excuses in early. A pre-emptive excuse for their future failures. This is what set Erdogan/AKP apart from the rest, and endeared him to the Turkish public. Because Erdogan never resorted to this in his early days as leader, or in the lead-up to his inauguration. I clearly remember him making a speech (circa 2002-2004) criticizing the Zionist conspiracies doing the rounds in Túrkiye, he said “What do we talk about? ….We talk about Túrkiye, that’s our only focus”. Things have changed quite a bit since the failed coup of 2015. Most Turks are adamant it was CIA backed. As you know that organisation has a track record of meddling in foreign affairs, and regime changes.
