Terror is as terror does
oft pogrom is decider
And so why this angst demeaning?
For a Palestine: defiled
For her peoples long have languished
now for neigh on eighty years
Post a Jewish terror’s seizure
that betrayed her every fear
What is particular to the Palestinian case is the exceptional frequency with which the right of return is asserted, by the United Nations and the international community. UNGA Resolution 194, 1948 clearly resolved: “the refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or in equity, should be made good by the governments or authorities responsible”.
Israel’s admission as a member of the UN in 1948, was made conditional on its acceptance and implementation of resolutions including UN Resolution 194.
General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 2535, 1969: “the problem of Palestine Arab refugees has arisen from the denial of their inalienable rights under the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”. In the same vein,
UNGA Resolution, 3236: reaffirms “the inalienable right of the Palestinians to return to their homes and property from which they have been displaced and uprooted, and calls for their return.”
