Alexander Solzhenitsyn put the situation in the old, communist Soviet Union in perspective and provided context vis-a-vis those Soviet Jews – claiming persecution.
He mentioned that many of the upper echelon of those Communists were Jews themselves.
His contention was, surely, Soviet Jews were persecuted, but if a person, and his family, were not connected to the party they all suffered equally. Jews were not singled out over the rest of the hoi polloi.
