Palestinian refugees were offered the right of return to Palestine, not to Israel proper. Like I said, it is not mathematically feasible. They were offered an increase in Gaza territory, Arafat turned it down. Bad choice!
UNRWA definition of a Palestine refugee in 1952: “A Palestine refugee is [a person] whose normal residence was Palestine for a [minimum period of two years] preceding the outbreak of the conflict in 1948 and who, as a result of this conflict has lost both his home and his means of livelihood.”
As you can see, the definition of “refugees” omitted the reference to persons of Arab origin in the 1948 General Assembly proposal, and included all stateless persons who had been residents of Palestine for a minimum of two years.
1948— Paragraph 11 of UN Resolution 194, required that those returning should and desiring to “live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date.” The Right of Return for today for more over six million Palestinians registered with UNRWA is a weapon for the demographic destruction of Israel, and fits neither the “live at peace” clause nor the “earliest practicable date” clause. There is no practical way for Israel to accept and enable its own demise.
