Netanyahu is right that Hamas are fanatics that need to be eliminated. The problem is Netanyahu is also an obstacle to peace since he also takes a river-to-sea approach similar to Hamas position.. Judging by the scale of the destruction, and his inclusion of Kahane discipline Ben Gvir as national security minister, Netanyahu goal isn’t just to get rid of Hamas but to get rid of all Palestinians rather than compromise with two-state solution.
US born Meir Kahane founded an organization called Jewish Defense League. It was eventually banned for domestic terrorism in the US and went to prison. After he got out he later wen on to found Kach political party in Israel whose goal was to expel all non-Jewish minorities and turn Israel into a theocratic state.. It was eventually banned in Israel for racism and under anti-terrorist laws after statements of support by Kach for Baruch Goldstein’s massacre of 29 Palestinians at the Cave of the Patriarch terrorist act. Goldstein was also a support of Kach. Under Netanyayhu’s stewardship, Likud has inch-by-inch now seemingly institutionalized Meir Kahane’s views. The most obvious red flag is Ben Gvir. Gvir also supported Goldstein’s terrorist attack and instead of being banned from participation in the Knesset Netanyahu has made him national security minister.
Netanyahu can behave the way he behaves ironically because of a segment of some far right Christian religious fundamentalists elements that exist in the US. They support Israel unconditionally not because of love of Jews but because they see the return of Jews to Israel as part of the coming of their Apocalypse . If Israel nuked dozens of nations tomorrow and Israel was nuked into oblivion in response, these Christian fundamentalists would cheer it on as a sign of the rapture and coming of Jesus. That’s how extreme these lunatics are. They make unhinged Meir Kahane appear like a rational pacifist by comparison.
Then of course we have several Islamic states that like to lecture about tiny Israel’s mistake, then ignore the religious extremism going on in their own that encourages suicidal jihadist tendencies. All it takes it one of these Jihadist basket cases getting access to nukes and it will set off a nuclear war
Islamic extremists, Kahanists, extreme right Christians, and anyone in any nation that actively behaves in similar extreme fashion… are not good for Israel. They are not good for America. They not good for Muslim countries. And not good for the world. Unless fanatics get called out in every country there is a non-trivial chance they will eventually drive the world to nuclear conflict.
