South Africa’s filing says Israel’s actions “are genocidal in character because they are intended to bring about the destruction of a substantial part” of the Palestinians in Gaza.
So it is just about numbers? If the death toll was equal, then how would they make a claim of genocide? Since Hamas started this conflict by massacring Israelis men, women, children and babies, taking hundreds of hostages, and firing 5000 rockets into Israel’s civilian populated areas—– all war crimes., and, you think the ICJ will ignore these facts regarding the UN Rules of War and Geneva Conventions regarding civilians, hostages, human shields, etc?
The UN Rules of War and Geneva Conventions are supposed to applying to both sides equally. When one side starts out violated every rule of war, then all bets are off for the other side having to use restraint under those conditions.
Will Egypt be complicit as they put up a steel wall in 2009 to keep out Hamas terrorists, and that wall has kept out hundreds of thousands of Gazans trying to flee the war that Hamas started. It would have been easy for Egypt to take down a portion of the wall to allow people some safety on the other side and provide them with some humanitarian aid.
