Up to this point, Israel and the US have demonstrated only deception and bloodthirst. There’s no reason to believe that they’re acting any differently now. Netanyahu’s condition 3 looks like a deliberate effort to make the ceasefire proposal a no-go. I really don’t believe Netanyahu and his government want a ceasefire. Nor does the US. They want the bombing to continue and they want to see the demographic collapse of Lebanon–not of Hezbollah–but of Lebanon. And they want to be able place blame away from themselves and on the other side for not agreeing to their “ceasefire”. What the US and Israel are doing is an evil so public, so shameless, and so depraved on a scale that I haven’t seen before. Plans of Israeli expansion into Lebanon, the West Bank, and Gaza have already begun popping up in Israeli media. But violence like that cannot sustain itself. Ultimately it implodes. There’s nothing more self-withering than endless hatred. As for the other side, stories keep appearing of Palestinians hoping and dreaming of the goodness of life. They are the ones who will endure and who will come out on the other side.
