Schools, universities, mosques, hospitals and like places are safe zones until such time as Hamas uses those facilities as headquarters and for the storage of munitions and to use as human shields. The same applies to ambulances when Hamas uses them to transport men and munitions. Hamas has been doing this for years. Further they place rockets, mortars and other munitions near private residences. The people of Gaza are also complicit, they approve of these actions so they do not qualify as innocent civilians. A perfect example of this is the “great march of return” which lasted 1.5 years. Every week during this time, Hamas bussed women and children to the front lines of this march. During that time 214 Palestinians were killed and 36,000 were injured. This included 46 children deaths and 8,000 children injured.. Now why would parents permit their children to be on those front lines for all of this time? The answer is not complicated, Gazans’ are complicit with this activity. In Jan. ’09 Hamas was using a mosque as a headquarters and armory. In Jan. ’08 a rocket production facility was found in a civilian residence. Two years ago UNRWA found a terror tunnel running beneath one of the schools they built. In July 2014, civilians tried to protect a Hamas executive home by placing themselves on the roof. Civilians are fully aware that Hamas is doing these things, yet they still gather in these places and get themselves killed. Golda Meir said it right years ago when she said the Palestinians will never have peace so long as they hate Israel more than they love their children.
