I don’t like the way it ended up the way it did in South Africa.
It should have ended the way it ended for the Belgians in the
Congo, the British in Kenya, the French in Algeria. The white
invaders of South Africa should never have been allowed to remain
there. The French were very determined never to let go of Algeria.
I went looking for information about what the French were saying
regarding Algeria before Algeria become independent and the
1959 speech they gave at the United Nations was very interesting –
they were actually saying that the Algerians would need the French
to show them how to live their lives. Here is that link:
