Those Israeli soldiers sure didn’t drag their feet leaving the Netzarim Corridor. As soon as their agreed upon time there was up, they were out in a flash. I wonder why. Meanwhile Netanyahu’s dragging his feet on meeting the timetables agreed upon in the deal. I bet that whenever each point that is agreed upon is actually implemented, he feels it as a defeat. Last August 20, 2024 he swore that Israel would never leave the Netzarim Corridor:
“Israel will not, under any circumstances, leave the Philadelphi Corridor and the Netzarim Axis despite the enormous pressure it is under to do so,” Netanyahu said in statements cited by Israeli daily, Maariv, during a meeting with families of Israelis held captive in Gaza.
“These are strategic principles, both militarily and politically,” added Netanyahu.
Like Mark here in the combox, with each of these setbacks Netanyahu turns more loutish and more petulant, as in telling the KSA to go stuff normalization. And the public opposition to him just grows. It’s like he’s getting the spiritual version of his prostatectomy. That’s his karma starting to play out, one piece at a time.
