The very effective Gazan invasion of Negev achieved part of its goals. It showed not only to the world, but to the Israelis themselves, that their fool-proof security was only an illusion. Besides the friendly-fire kills of civilians by the IDF on 7 October 2023, the Gazans with just five-thousand combatants, were able to wreck, destroy, injure, kill and kidnap an incredibly high number of Israelis in less than 24 hours. But most of all, it demonstrated that Gazans were able to enter Israel and kill at will, demonstrating the degree of complacency of the Israeli military and society.
