Ireland, France, Norway. France, Spain. More nations to come. The harsh criticism of Hamas is fair but some American officials trying to frame critics of Likud’s policies towards others Palestinians and Palestinian statehood as “antisemitic” is failing. The more they push this narrative, the more heat they are going to feel not only from the rest of the world but from their own citizens in America who are eventually going to take the positions of their ethnic homelands in the rest of the world. The more they push it, the more countries they will also push into the hands of Chinese and Russian sphere of influence.
Likud supporters are unwittingly undermining Israel’s own interests by undermining Israel diplomatically. They fail to grasp if they recognize a micro Palestinian state, it does not pose an existential threat to Israel as Netanyahu lies.. And in fact by recognizing a tiny Palestinian state, Israel can earn back the moral credibility to go after much larger states that pose an actual threat to Israel, Their opposition of an independent Kurdistan would be a prime example of giant hypocrisy by Iran and Turkey.
Actual, principled, human rights has a couple of options…
option a: . no homelands. open borders. citizenship based nations globally. This is effectively the current definition of “human rights’
option b: The one most people actually want but pretend they want option a…. homelands. For this to be fair everyone would need to have a homeland of their own where they can prioritize their own group’s culture and identity.. This way if they are unhappy living in someone else’s homeland they have an option to go somewhere else where they are the dominant group. No one in the world should have no outs from being a second class citizen.
