That 96% figure seems highly unrealistic.
I would estimate that around 60% supported normalization and 40% opposed it—at least, that was the case before the Gaza war. Things have changed since then, and the number of people rejecting normalization has increased significantly due to the aftermath of the conflict. However, opinions may shift again in the future.
Personally, I support normalization. Israel has been a friend, ally, and trustworthy partner to us for decades—this is nothing new.
Aside from a few countries in the Middle East, no Arab nation fully supports Morocco on our primary national issue—the so-called Western (Moroccan) Sahara. Even the Palestinians, ironically, are among the most hostile Arabs toward Morocco.
As we say in Morocco:
“Taza before Gaza.”
