I have 2 very close Ashkenazi friends. One is an engineer, the other one of my grad school professor.
Even though they have never converted or don’t even talk about converting to Christianity they don’t consider themselves as “them” They freely talk about “the Jews” just like they are not even Jewish. They are refreshingly objective
and not the least defensive.
They are charming, animated and charismatic. They both are apologetic of “their people”
The engineer visited Israel years ago, the professor refuses to go that’s how much it repulses him. An academic refusing to go to Israel. That sends a message.
