Tunisia was colonized by the French for 75 years between 1881 and
1956. the Jews who used to live in in Tunisia were not indigenous
to Tunisia because the Jews who were there are the descendants of
those who came from the Iberian Peninsula when they got expelled
by Spain and Portugal. According to the American Jewish
committee, the Jewish population of Tunisia was 60,000 in 1945
and it went up to 105,000 10 years later in 1955. That is an
increase of more than 60% and it was due to the European Jews
arriving in colonized Tunisia during World War II. You have
absolutely no proof that Jews lived in Tunisia during the Roman
times – or else please provide it. I had a look at 5 different
sources online that showed that there are only 1,000 Jews living
in Tunisia and there is no doubt that they are all the Ashkenazi.
Can you provide the source where you found the information that
there are 1800 Jews living in Tunisia?
