Palestinian Rights groups report harsh conditions for Gaza detainees in Israel’s Ofer Prison (from article)

harsh:
1. unpleasantly rough or jarring to the senses.
2. cruel or severe.
Quite likely almost any prison tends towards having at times harsh conditions. As an incentive to entice more surrendering jihadis, it would be better to have conditions pleasantly smooth or accommodating to the senses; more simpatico or with an easy-going life style.
Potentionally for the jiahdis the enemy’s prison conditions competes with the Barzakh conditions.
Both have some pretty severe interrogations, but Israeli also reward the detainees or POWs with perks for being transparent about their jihadi operations. Fibbing to the IDF interrogators will invite more harsher conditions. This is also the case with Nakīr and Munkar, being less than transparent during the Q&A sessions, can lead to some very harsh conditions as well.
