According to Iranian military officer Hassan Hassanzadeh, the Gaza Strip’s tunnels are more than 500 kilometers (310 miles) long. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) estimates that there are around 300 miles of tunnels, ranging from 15 feet to over 200 feet below the surface. The Israeli military has also found that the network is between 350 and 450 miles long, with close to 5,700 separate shafts leading to the tunnels.
