Re: Pro-Palestine activists demand an end to the US arms sales to Israel

I don’t see the world in terms of one country or people all bad or all good. There are fanatics in all countries including Greece. What I call the bad guys is just when a country happens to run by the fanatic element rather than moderate one that also coexists. Even in Nazi Germany I can guarantee you there were Germans that hated the Nazis. Once the fanatics are in power though it’s hard for moderates to have a voice because they will be accused of treason, ostracized, imprisoned (or worse).

In the case of Israel, they also have some extremist elements too. This type engage in racist rhetoric much like Hamas supporters do. That element have an anything goes mentality like Hamas does too. They would even murder other Jews (see assassination of Rabin) I wouldn’t call Likud extremists as a whole but they tinker with extremists as part of their coalition. They need to have more confidence in themselves and be more willing to compromise. Hamas are a terrorist threat to Israel. They are not an existential threat to Israel. Israel does have the ability to compromise even if Hamas does not.

I support Israel eradicating Hamas but I don’t support a single state solution. Deporting them all to other countries would be like deporting Jews to other countries. When Turkey and Greece fought when the Ottoman empire fell apart Turks had a homeland to go to. When we agree to separate each other demographically it brough peace even if imperfect. That’s fair. While I am defensive of Greece when the fanatic element of the Turkish government threatens our sovereignty I fully support Turks having a homeland.

Everyone should have a place to live where they are treated as equals and their own customs are prioritized. That’s my version of multiculturalism not the leftist garbage that would eventually destroy everyone’s unique culture and identity. When in Rome do as the Romans.
