I have2 very very close Ashkenazi friends. The difference is they don’t consider themselves “Jews” and refer to them as “they” not “we”or “us”
I’ve known them 20-30 years and they taught me a lot . A few years ago we invited them for Christmas and both flew in and met each other for the first time.
Interested neither celebrate any of the Jewish holidays however they were raised. Celebrating them all.
They also admire Jesus as the first revolutionary as these 2 Ashkenazis are baby boomers that protested the Vietnam war, apartheid South Africa and apartheid Israel.
