So there are two expressions that we – and to a certain extent especially Canadians – grew up with 1) Lest We Forget, which is why we honour November 11 each year as our WWI Remembrance Day. It means lest we forget the political attitudes, actions and events that led up to WWI (this is VERY important for us to remember) as well as Lest We Forget that WWI was called the War to End All Wars but that it WAS NOT (connecting it to all the Veterans who died in the Wars – Korean War is included in this for us). And so, we turn to the next expression we were all taught and grew up with – Never Again. This is in reference to WWII (and the fact that we forgot things) and the RISE OF FASCISM. What we are to make sure happens Never Again is the rise of fascism, but also authoritarianism and dictatorships (in the West). These are very Western expressions about Western society and culture and how horrible it really is. So, the Zionists exploited this term “Never Again” for their own purposes. What we know about them (the Zionists), and you can look it up for yourself, is that they were highly drawn to Italian fascism. Israeli scholars (Zionist historians) in the mid 80s began to get access to the Zionist archives in Israel and started to become very uncomfortable with what they were finding. These historians are called “New Historians.” They were zionists, some remained zionists, but some became anti-zionist. Ilan Pappe is the most famous. He has written about 25 books and his most famous one is The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine. He is so excellent! and courageous! that he was picked up by US security returning from the Middle East and interrogated for many hours. Because he is a threat to all their stupid lies and stories. Another one is Hebrew Fascism in Palestine (1922-1942) by an Israeli scholar Dan Tamir. There are others. I will look in my files and get some more details for you. There are also some very good recent works on Hamas, actually. Hamas Foreign Policy by Leila Seurat, and another recommended by Ilan Pappe that I think is featured on Middle East Monitor. “The sins of Germany” …. that is a complicated story. The Balfour Declaration is from 1917. Zionism as a political movement was founded by a small group of Jewish people in the late 1800s. Speaking about anti-semitism, the Holocaust is something quite a number of them embrace as, almost a sign for the coming of Erez Israel and the resurrection of the third temple. You should see the stuff that the new historians and other Israeli scholars coming after them, along with American Jewish scholars and others. I have a paper from 1985 from a historian who got into the Zionist archives in 1985. It’s about the Zionists participation with the Nazis after the Nazis had stripped all other Jewish civil societies of their rights. There’s other stuff on events in Russia as well that has been discovered and suppressed, because it doesn’t fit the Zionist narrative. The Myths of Liberal Zionism by Yitzhak Laor and Jose Saramago (nobel prize winner). People know! We’re just dealing with really screwed up Western governments. The US is full of Christian Zionists – these evangelicals and such who believe that Israel is the sign of the second coming. Practically half the country, according to their weird leaders who claim they have 100 million adherents. Biden himself basically stood in front of the US saying as much. He admits to being a Christian Zionist and calls Israel the “light to the world.” How could Palestinians have any idea that this is the type of screwed up people they are dealing with? And think about Europe. Christian Zionism in Europe goes back to the 1600s. These people are fanatics and it’s so embedded and normalized in them, they don’t even realize it. It’s deep hate. And who do they hate? Anyone who’s not Christian. It’s the same today in the West as it was any time in the past that we could even possibly remember. That’s what you’re up against. Edward Said wrote about this in his famous Orientalism (1978). He was a very smart man. That’s another book you should get you paws on. In Canada at the university level, we are all trained to know Said’s book Orientalism, because we have a critical tradition and because we are a colonial country ourselves. But we are having a lot of problems with our government. I am truly sorry. We are aghast. You should know that. Most Canadians, like most Americans, are completely beside ourselves. Our government is completely morally bankrupt and sick. We know this. But Justin Trudeau has got some personal issues that weren’t so visibly apparent to us as they have become over the past year. We’re doing our best against them and to try to get in – any change at this point, but also proper changes forcing them to look at what Israel is doing, and what our governments themselves have been doing against the Palestinians – since the Palestinians and Middle East ever had the misfortune of encountering them.
