We would rally on Cyprus and one day go over to Eretz Israel and take it by force, as it was taken from us long ago. But I slept on this all-too-lurid idea, and the night brought me the decision that at this moment the wisest thing was to say nothing.
Herzl begged and begged and begged the British many times – over many years – to give him Cyprus but he died without getting it! Cyprus was under Ottoman control for more than 300 years and then the British got it. But what I don’t understand is: how exactly were the British to benefit by handing over Cyprus to the Jews? And if the Jews had succeeded in obtaining Cyprus from the British to be used as the place where they would train the Jewish army to invade and occupy Palestine by force, wouldn’t the British be responsible for that action?
