Perhaps a few use the word in a derogatory fashion, but for the most part it describes one of the most dynamic processes that has helped Jews survive over many years. In example, after the treatment/atrocities against the Jews in the first half of the 20th century in the eurolands, left the survivors to swear allegiance to one another to defend themselves from more attacks. Israel statehood slowly has become a safe-haven for persecuted Jews from across the globe. The system is not perfect, but it does allow for self-defense.
