I guess Hamas’s understanding was that by using UN buildings and becoming UN staff … they could avoid detection and harm to themselves … eh?

Using Western concepts of fairness and the rules of ‘international law’ have increasingly become a means of promoting Hamas’s political program … full stop
Hamas (jihadi / islamist gangs in general) conduct War by hiding in urban arab/muslim communities … using stealth / terror tactics to attack … full stop
Using ‘civilians’ as ‘human shields’ is at the forefront of these tactics … full stop
The rules of War are definitely up for an adjustment … the rules ‘were’ based on WWII conditions but ‘things have changed’ … eh?
