What Western countries have done here has opened the eyes of many people in the Global South. They were mentally aware of the disdain Western leaders held for them, now they actually see it and its implications in operation, in real time, and what it can mean for their own people. I would not be surprised to see a tectonic shift in the way the Global South treats with demands from the West in the future.
