Just to point out some reality here. The distruction of Palestine has gone on since the early zionists such as Theodore Herzl stated that in order for the future Israel to work it would be necessary to get rid of the Palestinians. He wrote and stated that back in 1895 at the first zionist convention. This colonialist project was helped by Balfour in 1917 in his declaration that stated the jews should be allowed to basically take over palestine. This same person stated in 1905 that something should be done about the UK’s “jewish problem” so I think we can assume his real motives here. In 1948 30% of the population (immigrant Jews from eastern Europe mainly) took over Palestine and pushed out Palestinians.(70% of the population). It is there that it becomes even more twisted. 1. The early jewish leadership were mainly athiests but saw the value of pushing the biblical narrative of the jewish state. This narrative was pushed as historical fact when in fact both bibles are based on Greek mythology. Both bibles are therefore seen by accademics as myths rather than historical fact. 2. All leadership was encouraged to change their names from yidish eastern european names to invented Hebrew names in an attempt at creating authenticity. This is why Ben Grun was the real name of the first prime minister, Ben Gurion. Golda Meirs real name was Goldie Mabovich and Menachem Begin was Menakhem Volfovich in Poland where he was born.The present Prime ministers real surname is Mileikowsky which was the surname of his father. Hebrew itself was re-invented by the early zionists because like greek it was a dead language used only in liturgy at that time. All villages and towns after 1948 were re-named with invented Hebrew or palestinian adapted to hebrew names. You should read “The invention of the land of Israel” by Shlomo Sands ( An Israel academic) or the invention of ancient Israel by Kieth Whitelaw. It is quite clear that the take over of palestine was a colonialist project and that palestinians have never been safe wherever they sleep since 1948. It might be informative if you asks yourself how so many palestinians in Gaza actually got there. They were pushed out of Palestine by the Zionists into the worlds biggest prison camp, supported by the west who liked the idea of an ally in the middle east. “the biggest prison on earth” by Ilan Pappe is a good description of this reality. Israel could therefore be seen as the Truman show on steroids.
