some folks might suggest that it’s fatuous to expect the UN to be well-functioning in good democratic order when the majority of the members of the organization are nations that are anything but democratic in structure and function.
I might suggest that it was understood from the beginning that democracy on this planet is aspirational rather than existent
and that all the well-meaning people who call for the UN to be perfectly democratic are either cynical or certain to remained frustrated.
