Just one more point about expulsion without formation of a Palestinian state… it still won’t end the dispute. Let’s suppose some nation agrees to accept them with forcible expulsion. They will be still hounding you for centuries for right of return and accusing you of genocide. That will continue to push antisemetism globally..
Frankly I don’t understand why Israel opposes a second Palestinian state. I look back at history during Greece’s national formation out of the former Ottoman empire. We too wanted to recover all former Greek lands. Eventually we got burned. Fortunately for us it was before the nuclear weapons era.
I say this in good faith. You have a great hand. Don’t blow it by avoiding compromise just because you currently hold the trump cards. Things can and do change. Hamas are a terrorist threat but not an existential threat to Israel. Muslims aren’t all dummies and savages. Its very likely eventually several other Muslim countries (like Iran and Turkey) are going to get nukes and then Israel will have real existential threats to deal with. Showing a little magnanimity now, to a group that just killed thousands of your citizens, would bring a lot of positive press to Israel. You would still have Israel, more secure than before, free of terrorism, at the bargain basement price of just a tiny bit smaller than Jews wanted.
