I was referring to the sayanim, a unique Hebrew word that describes how Israel differs from every country on the planet, in that it assumes that every Jew on the planet’s primary loyalty is to Israel. Its singular form, sayan, is expected to perform duties that might be consider inappropriate, even illegal and certainly less kosher than if carried out by an Israeli official.
