Couldn’t give a rats’ for your own wellbeing, for your personal sacrifice and that of your mates; or indeed for the generous Constitutional spirit of the nation you happen to serve. (Be this in any one of the “theatres of war” in which ‘the far from good ol USA’ has decided to engage in since particularly the late 50’s and 60’s. With the entire Vietnam; the ’67 USS Liberty; the entire Afghanistan and the entire Iraq ‘particularly futile episodes of sacrifice’ . . . as the standout examples.)
That Bushnell was likely very pissed off, is understandable.
That the likes of Antony Blinken (who also serves the US Constitution and Nation) are much better informed and accordingly, still more pissed off – is very likely.
Of course; that the vast majority of these ‘people in service’ manage to ‘carry on’ goes without saying. But the personal levels of stress and hence the personal costs must be very high. For what empathy-in-return?
