I would pay to see the conversions going on this day at the Jesus-saves buffoons at American “think tank” Heritage Foundation who wildly supported Erdogan for years.. The YPG fighters that fought ISIS would no doubt find it humorous as well. They fought alongside Americans only to later be backstabbed by the incompetent Heritage Foundation pundits. They supported Erdogan’s illegal invasion and occupation of northern Syria because giant hypocrite Erdogan opposes a two-state solution for tens of millions of Kurds. Erdogan claims every Kurd that seeks their self-determination is a “terrorist”.
Nationalist sophistry leads to conflict because those that are victims of it recognize it. Unfortunately those that are victims of it often play the same game. The Palestinians do no condemn Erdogan for refusing to recognize a two-state solution for Kurds because they see him as an ally against Israel
The moral thing to do of course is follow the principle. A state for Jews. A state for Palestinians. A state for Turks, And a state for Kurds. The US is the trump card that will decide this, If it has any sense this is what it should support rather than the current nationalist sophistry of its own. It’s in US national interests to see 4 states not 2. Its even in the interests of all the parties involved to see that but it requires following compromise and a moral principle rather than taking all-in positions.
