Re: EU’s Borrell: Israel can’t veto Palestinians’ right to self-determination

Palestinians had a legal right, but always chose war instead or they would be celebrating 75 years of independent statehood today with pre-1967 borders.

For the first 20 years Egypt occupied Gaza and Jordan occupied the West Bank and there was never talk about giving them an independent Palestine. King Hussein of Jordan signed a pact with Egypt on May 30 1967, only a week before the war, that the Arab States were prepared for battle and lined up at the border.

Nasser announced: The armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon are poised on the borders of Israel to face the challenge, while standing behind us are the armies of Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait, Sudan and the whole Arab nation. This act will astound the world. Today they will know that the Arabs are arranged for battle, the critical time is here. ——
