With a cooling of the face
as the sun would cede the sky
There is a freshness to this breeze
that brings the night
The hiss, as wavelets reach the shore
and creep, as shadows cross the floor
Then one by one. The stars replace the light
We are blessed: by this contrast
with the morning
For then there was a harshness
vivid, bright
Upon the shallow waters green
White sands and shell grit clean
Dunes reddened, from the eastward desert light
