I don’t agree with those who hold “end of times” views however country ambassadors have very limited scope. No-one cares or pays attention to ambassadors to India or France. I just don’t see the position as being that consequential. Rubio is a solid pick and Stefanik is a good choice for the UN. Trump’s choices for Attorney General and Defense are more worrisome.
Have I examined every critic of Israel to gauge their responses to Zomlot or Abbas? Not specifically, it’s just that, outside of Israeli or Jewish sources I haven’t heard anything at all. Lots of calls to put pressure on Israel, nothing but minor lip service to pressure the Palestinians, Hezbollah or Iran. The EU’s Joseph Borrell is a particularly sad case.
Note that MEMO studiously ignores important news. Israel’s successful though muted attack on Iran has seriously crippled their ability to mix rocket fuel and produce drones which has negatively affected Russia’s aggression in the Ukraine. A further Israeli response is a bill, mostly symbolic, calling for Russian military hardware captured in Lebanon to be sent to the Ukraine. Russia is also importing North Koreans to fight indicating a difficulty in recruiting at home. I doubt that they will be that effective – the longer term problem is those that live will have training in live combat which could be used against South Korea. Also Greece is in talks with Israel to acquire and Iron Dome-like defensive system to protect it from Turkey. I’d be interested in your views on this given Greece’s distributed island geography and the growing use of drones. However the most significant omission is coverage of the Ayatollah’s failing health, he’s in a coma, and his imminent replacement, possibly by his son which indicates nepotism.
Taiwan is also always a worry. If China perceives that the West is weak or will turn a blind eye it may decide to invade. Taiwan is the West’s chip foundry and a source of innovation in that area, and though some production is moving to the US.
