I ask myself, if Turks slaughtered that many Armenians, then why have Armenians always been friendly & affectionate to me & members of my family? ….Why isn’t there any sign of emnity?
Sure, atrocities occured, but look at WHERE they occured…. in the Kurdish majority areas of eastern Anatolia. The CUP govt. took the decision to send the Armenians to Syria, whereby they wearily trekked past Kurdish populated areas.
Kurds already had a history of massacring (Christian) Assyrians. The Kurds constituted the vast majority of the Hamidiye regiments which guarded the Ottoman empires south-eastern flank.
Ottomans main (Turkish) forces were stationed to the West, ready to stave off the impending threat from colonial powers. This is why Armenians were deported, since their recent aspirations for independence posed the risk of high treason in support of any invading colonial powers.
