That is the wrong comparison because it happened a very long time ago and the area is far away from the Middle East. What you need to compare it to are:
1) France that colonized Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia,
2) Britain that colonized Egypt, Yemen,
3) Italy that colonized Libya.
There are no more Europeans occupying any Middle Eastern countries except for the Ashkenazi who are occupying Palestine.
